Was the iCa sample collected in a blood gas syringe ?
The "electrolyte balanced" anticoagulant in some types contains 12 mmol/L
Ca++, so if the sample taken is short of the correct volume, the Ca error
can be significant.

We have a 65 yrs old female hwo came for a thyroid biopsy(Fine needle
aspiration) (17/12). The results were:

Total Calcium 2.36 mM (RV 2.1-2.55)
Alb 38 (RV 35-50)
iCa 1.48 (RV 1.15-1.22)

Total Calcium 2.29
Alb 37
iCa 1.42
PTH was sent today and I will have the results probably next week
iCa was done using AVL (Roche)
