Hi Mike
Just on your second point about font size. As you say, each individual's
needs are different but RNIB has some general guidance on producing clear
and large print.
Clear print documents use a minimum of 12 point font, although we recommend
using 14 point to reach a larger group of people. Large print documents are
produced in larger type size, ranging from 16 - 22 point.
It is also important to consider the typeface you use (particularly avoiding
highly stylised fonts and using one that are commonly used and easily
recognised such as Arial), the leading (ensuring that the lines are clearly
separated) the text style (for example avoiding italics and whole words in
capital letters), the alignment (its recommended to align text to the left
margin and not to justify) and importantly the contrast between the text and
the background.
RNIB produces the See it Right pack which is a series of 12 booklets that
offer practical advice on designing, producing and planning for accessible
information with info on print, audio, braille, web, email etc. There's some
info on the pack and also some tips on clear print on our website -

Hope this helps!

Hi Everyone
1) I need to write a job description and person spec for the people who
come in to teach for us,
one hour at a time. this invariably leads, being Chester, to leading an
Activity/Handling
Session on the romans! This is so we can go through the job evaluation
process. Has anyone
got an example they wouldn't mind sharing??
2) Can anyone tell me what font size is recommended for partially sighted
people (thogh I guess it must depend on how much vision they have)
Thanks everyone
