Exciting and innovative approaches to archaeology through the effective use of IT. This is a course for everyone involved in Education and Archaeology - you do not have to be IT literate to enjoy the day!
9.30 am - 10.00 am Registration and Coffee
10.00 am - 10.15 am Welcome and overview of the day Steve Burt

Making a record of the site with electronic media is not something which can be done at the last moment. It has to be integral from the start.
10.45 am - 11.15 am Effective use of the internet, Liz Weldrake
11.15 am - 1.00 pm Coffee followed by site visit to Rothwell Castle - location of recent school excavation.
1.45 pm - 2.30 pm Viking Day, Pete Thurlow
An introduction to the software packages of Kar2ouche and Textease that help pupils use information to recreate the past.
2.30 pm - 3.00 pm Easy steps to film making
How children can use camcorders and software to record archaeological and historical projects.
3.00 pm - 3.20 pm Use of video conferencing with schools, Bryan Sitch

3.20 pm - 3.50 pm The future, Steve Burt
How virtual reality software can be used by pupils to create 'virtual visits' to their own museum and how post 14 students can use software to reconstruct buildings from the past. Delegates will have the opportunity to 'flythrough' Rothwell Manor House and use VR glasses to visit the 'Virtual Museum of Rothwell'.
3.50 pm - 4.00 pm Closing Remarks and Departure
There will be a charge of £30 for the day to cover expenses. Lunch will be provided (cost included in the registration fee).
