Hello,
Do you know of any resources that look at the integration of planning for
staff or volunteer training and development into overall strategic planning
in museums and galleries?
I'm familiar with the more generic materials on managing performance through
training and development and the how-to's of going about training needs
assessments, choosing methods, and evaluation. But I have found little that
discusses macro-level thinking about staff as a resource IN particular
museums or galleries and planning for the development of this human resource
as part of a bigger undertaking. Most plans seem to assume that new people
will be brought in or the present ones will just stay as they are.
Any suggestions welcome. Outcome will be a "tip sheet" on the topic for the
Ontario Museum Association, which I will be happy to share with anyone
interested.
