TASI in conjunction with Visual Arts Technology Staff Development for
Scottish Art Schools is pleased to announce two hands-on workshops to be
held at the Glasgow School of Art this month, for those involved in
creating or using digital images.
Intermediate Capture (Tuesday 19th February) is a practical workshop
covering
* Calibration in practice
* Handling analogue originals
* Input devices - flat-bed, drum, open book and slide scanners, digital
cameras
* Using 'Preview' to your advantage
* Line art, greyscale and colour scanning
* Output dimensions made easy
* The colour problem
* Adjusting and correcting an image
* Appropriate image processing
* Speeding up your system
Finding and Using Images for Teaching and Learning (Wednesday 20th
February) will help teaching staff, researchers, librarians
and computing service staff quickly locate suitable images, manipulate
and then place them into Web pages and PowerPoint presentations.
It covers
* Copyright
* Image sources
* Hardware and software issues
* Finding hands-on
* Image formats
* Basic image manipulation
* Preparation and Incorporation
* Design and End-user considerations
* Basic image management
Workshops cost £125 for those from Higher or Further Education or &150
for those from Government, charities, libraries, galleries or museums.
