SCRAN Awards for Materials Development (FE and HE)
SCRAN is pleased to announce the launch of the SCRAN Awards for Materials
Development. Awards of between £500 and £1500 are available to lecturers and
learning resource staff in FE and HE to fund the creation of learning
materials based on resources from SCRAN.
The aim is to assist lecturers to develop materials that will be useful to
their own learning and teaching activities, as well as to provide good
practice exemplars that will be of interest and value to the wider
community. The completed materials together with case study documentation
will be made available for download from the SCRAN website.
SCRAN is looking to commission materials of different types across a wide
range of subject areas. Applicants should have recent experience of working
in an FE or HE institution in the subject area of the proposed resource and
access to the tools and skills required to complete the project
successfully.

The closing date for applications is 31 January 2002. Completed materials
should be submitted by 30 September 2002.

What is SCRAN?
SCRAN (www.scran.ac.uk) is an online resource base of copyright cleared
multimedia materials for learning and teaching. The materials have been
gathered from museums, galleries, libraries, media organisations, specialist
collections and archives and cover a wide range of subject areas. Staff in
licensed institutions (such as the University of Glasgow) can download
individual images, audio files and video clips and use them to create their
own learning and teaching materials. .
This funding has been made available to SCRAN from JISC and is part of an
initiative to better integrate SCRAN within the learning and teaching
framework of the DNER (www.jisc.ac.uk/dner).
