Dear Paul,
Thanks for this. Can you refer me to which LEA's you've read stuff from? I
totally agree on the common sense angle but you wouldn't believe, or perhaps
you would, some of the things I have been hearing! My partners and I will
have Enhanced Disclosures because it does feel necessary to prove bona fides
to clients but I agree with you that double checking is unnecessary and
expensive.
Thanks

Subject: Re: CRB/Disclosure/Police Checks
Just read through several LEA revised advice docs on this in relation to
workers coming in to do one off events/workshops and the advice was
universally that as long as the worker (or parent / volunteer) was not left
alone but supervised ( a member of staff present and responsible for
children) at all times then the individual need not be checked by the
individual institution. Where school groups go out on visits to museums etc
and might take part in workshops then the teacher remains in charge - so
again perhaps checks don't need to be done esp. if worker is also supervised
by a checked member of museum staff.
Common sense has to prevail otherwise we 'll have to check everyone that any
child of any age might just come into contact with - impossible but
lucrative for someone!
