Today, 11 August, is the feast of ...
* Tiburtius and Susanna, martyrs (third century?)
- Tiburtius walked over hot coals to prove the power of his faith,
but this was treated as a magic stunt, and he was beheaded; so to was
Susanna, on a separate occasion
* Alexander the Charcoal-Burner, bishop of Comana, martyr (275?)
- patron of charcoal-burners
* Blaan or Blane, bishop (c. 590?)
- when the church lights went out during night office, he sturck a
fire from his own fingernails
* * * * * * * * *
I hope I won't be starting another spate of limericks, puns, etc., but
sometimes the community of saints provide their own.
