Is finding good sources of music information on the internet a challenge?
Then you need to attend:
Subject guide to the Internet: music
A one day Library Association workshop on 16 May, in London
Libraries are recognised as important sources of information on music, from
providing access to sets of printed music for performance, biographies of
famous composers to the latest top 40 CDs. The Internet has exploded with a
fascinating range of sites for both the classical and popular music fan.
This workshop will outline the major sources of music information on the
Internet.
By the end of the event participants will have:
* explored the key Internet resources for both classical and popular
music
* searched in key sites through a 'hands on' case study approach
* discussed the range and quality of the sources
Who will benefit from attending?
Those responsible for answering music enquiries in libraries or other
information units. Basic keyboarding skills are required and participants
will need to have some experience of using the Internet.
This workshop will be very practical, based around seven personal computers,
2 participants per terminal. In order to ensure that each delegate has
significant opportunity to search sources, the number of delegates on this
workshop will be restricted to 14.
