I know that Playtrain have been trying to locate children's councils/forums
as part of their research - but I'm uncertain as to how they will be
working with them.
These groups do seem to be on the increase. I know that the Livesey
Children's Museum has a children's council (I was recently working with
them) and that they're always keen to exchange ideas/evaluation etc. with
other interested groups.
Hope this is useful!

Subject: Network of Junior boards??
Hi everyone
Would anyone currently involved in working with a children's
panel/children's forum/children's council/Junior Board/children's
consultancy scheme be interested in joining me in setting up an informal
national network? From the number of requests for information about the
NMS Junior Board I receive every week, I am aware that there are a lot
of junior boards out there; I would certainly find it interesting and
helpful to link up with others involved.
Initially the network might aim to:
* provide information/advice for people considering setting up a
children's panel
* be a forum for discussion of issues arising from consulting with
children
* provide examples of good practice and a range of local/national
models
* share evaluation
* ????
This could be web based, email-based, physical in setting up local
groups; could produce an annual (?)newsletter; could lead to mini
conferences...whatever!
If you are interested in joining or in helping get such a network off
the ground, please contact me. Or (sudden thought), if there is a
network out there already which I have not heard of, please can you tell
me about it!
Best wishes
