The MRC Biostatistics Unit (MRC BSU) is one of Europe's leading biostatistics research institutions. The Cambridge Clinical Trials unit (CCTU) is a newly fully accredited trials unit also based on the Addenbrookes campus. The two institutions are offering an exciting opportunity to join a team of trials methodologists with the statistical team within the trials unit. Hence this position will enable stronger links between methodologists and trials practitioners.
Working jointly with the teams of Dr Adrian Mander at the MRC BSU Hub and Dr Simon Bond at the CCTU, you will contribute to a number of ongoing clinical trials, contributing to protocol writing, statistical analysis plan development, the analysis and reporting of ongoing trials and the design of new trials. Additionally for suitable candidates some methodological developments related to adaptive clinical trials.
You will have a PhD in statistics or related subject, and statistical computing experience, e.g. Programming in R or Stata. Some knowledge/experience of clinical trials would be advantageous, but training can be provided. You must have good communication skills and be able to contribute substantially to writing scientific papers.
The MRC Biostatistics Unit aims to advance medical science by the development, application and dissemination of statistical methods. It is one of Europe's leading biostatistics research institutions and includes many internationally renowned statisticians. It provides a privileged environment for statistical research.
The Cambridge Clinical Trials Unit is located on the Addenbrooke's Biomedical Campus in Cambridge, and works closely with local investigators from the University of Cambridge, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Cambridge and Peterborough Foundation Trust to develop and deliver high quality clinical trials. The Unit has a diverse portfolio of over 40 trials, encompassing a broad-range of disease areas including oncology, cardiovascular medicine, paediatrics, vasculitis and radiology, and has recently been registered by the NIHR.
