The Science Museum is planning to hold a trial Web Cast intended for KS2
pupils on Monday 17th May at 12:45PM. Based on one of the regular events in
the Science Museum, the Web Cast will last no more than one hour on the
theme of Victorian Objects. The session will encourage pupils to think
about the uses of Victorian artefacts and how design and use of materials
have changed compared to their present day environment. As part of the
Museum's commitment to creating interative environments, a chatroom has
been set up to allow viewers to ask questions and comment on the performance.
To see this event you will need to register (name only) before the day of
the Web Cast. YOU MUST REGISTER BY 2PM FRIDAY 14TH MAY. To register, please
follow the instructions below.
1/Once connected to the Web, type in the following URL,
www.nmsi.ac.uk:8000/dlearning - You will arrive at the registration area of
the chatroom.
2/Now you will need to click on JOIN - do not type in your desired nickname
or password at this stage
3/ Now type in your desired nickname (use all small case letters), click on
the submit query button
4a/Automatically an email will pop up addressed to the webmaster, click on
send
4b/If the email box does not come up,(you may have a message saying your
email address has not been specified) send you own email to
[log in to unmask] with your desired nickname typed into the message.
5/You have completed your registration.
6/The webmaster at the Science Museum will register your nickname and will
then send back an allocated password within a few days
7/In order to view the Web Cast, you will need to download and install a
free copy of the RealPlayer plug-in. This is simple and easy to do. Type in
the following Web address, www.nmsi.ac.uk/education/course.htm and follow
the instructions on the page to download the RealPlayer plug-in.
On the day of the Web Cast you can use you nickname and password to Login
to the Netcast at 12:30pm (use the address/URL: www.nmsi.ac.uk:8000/dlearning)
On Friday 14th May, Katie Streten, the Webmaster and Natasha Stevens,
Education Assistant will run an online seesion between 12:30-1:30 where
your questions can be answered about the event. If problems arise during

will not enter a database or mailing list **
