English examples of founders' families adopting religious houses as burial
sites would include the Bohun earls of Essex at Walden Abbey, the Clare
earls of Gloucester both at Tewkesbury and at Clare Priory in Suffolk, and
the Vere earls of Oxford at Colne. Not to mention, of course, the
Plantagenets in Westminster Abbey which was rebuilt by Henry III. All of
these can be documented via Dugdale's *Monasticon Anglicanum*.
