Dear Colleagues,
Last week and this, I posted a research request to see whether list with a scientific or technical background avoid posting on the PhD-Design list because doing so subjects them to attacks on the list by people from an art and design background. I promised anonymity for all respondents.
One person with a scientific and technical background responded to say that he avoids posting because he is afraid of the response from people with an art and design background.
While I requested a deeper explanation, he did not provide specific comments.
In addition, I have had a number of comments and queries to ask about my research request or to discuss the question. While I followed these up with questions, the only affirmative response that I received came from the one individual I note here. While this suggests that a few people from scientific or technical backgrounds are concerned, it also suggests that this is not a large-scale issue.
Yours,
Ken
