Let us know by Friday if you'd like to reserve a space!
Have you got an activity that you’d like to see in the British Science Week activity packs?
We are inviting organisations to submit activities to be included in one or more of the activity packs for British Science Week 2019 for release in November 2018.
There are three activity packs released on this site each year in the lead up to British Science Week which takes place from 9-17 March in 2019. The activities are aimed at: ages 3-5 (Early Years), ages 5-11 (Primary) and ages 11-14+ (Secondary). The packs are available to download for free by educators across the UK and beyond including teachers, out of school group leaders, home educators, child care providers, parents and community group leaders. In the lead up to British Science Week 2018 we had over 75,000 downloads of the activity packs. The packs stay online all year and continue to be available in the following year.
This is a valuable opportunity for organisations to promote resources and connect with new audiences. There is a supporter fee charged for each activity which will go towards the design and development of the packs and the wider British Science Week campaign.
Early Years: one activity £1000 +VAT (We had approximately 20,000 downloads in 2018)
Primary: one activity £1300 +VAT (We had approximately 41,000 downloads in 2018)
Secondary: one activity £750 +VAT (We had approximately 14,000 downloads in 2018)
The theme for 2019 is Journeys. We are encouraging people to be creative in their interpretation of the theme, a few suggested sub themes which have already come up are:
• Journeys and travel
• Journeys of objects (making of objects and their lifecycles)
• Journeys and life cycles (people, plants, animals)
• Journeys through time (landscapes and historical change)
• Journeys of people (leading to sharing of culture, ideas, stories)
The activities should have a Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths focus but we are particularly keen to include cross curricular content and activities from non-science organisations.
We expect the 2019 packs to take a similar format 2018. You can download the packs from this year here.
There are limited spaces in each pack and we want to ensure a balance of content across subject areas, so please get in touch by Friday 27th July at the latest to reserve a slot or express an interest. We will send further information and guidance on content and the format for activities. The pack will be produced and released in early November and we will need all content by Friday 31st August.
