Posted on behalf of the Museum Freelance Network UK.
This is a call for lightening talk speakers for our forthcoming training and networking event at London Canal Museum on Monday 13th March 2017 (www.museumfreelance.eventbrite.co.uk).
Lightning talks are bite-size, punchy 5 minute talks. You can present using no tech, low tech, or high tech - it's up to you. But you'll be asked to stop once the time is up!
We're looking for inspiring talks which answer the question 'What's in your kit bag?'. We'd like you to share the best tools, tips or lessons learned during your freelance career. What's made you a proactive, empowered and confident freelancer?
Whether you want to talk about tech, communication, accountancy, relationship management - successes or failures - it's up to you how you interpret the 'kit bag' brief.
We've kept the brief purposefully open, and the proposal form short! Simply complete the form to submit your expression of interest: https://goo.gl/forms/edJqnHnwYQRwQyG72. You'll find more details about the session - and the event - on the form.
The deadline for proposals is 31 January 2017.
The Museum Freelance Network was set up by two freelancers – Laura Crossley and Christina Lister – in autumn 2015, following a #museumhour conversation on Twitter about freelancing. The idea behind the group is to give UK-based freelancers who work with museums the opportunity to network, share ideas, collaborate and share news, jobs, issues and information relevant to the community. The Network has a LinkedIn group and hosts a #museumfreelance discussion on Twitter on the last Wednesday in every month, 8-9pm. This is the first Museum Freelance event and is intended to fill a gap identified in various online discussions about the demand for useful and good value training and networking for freelancers.
