Can I add "You're Thinking About Doughnuts" by Michael Rosen?
Not one of his better-known books but contains within it an interesting analysis of why some objects end up in museums and why we place a value on those objects. The main character is the son of a cleaner in the museum so also some issues of class and museums are also touched upon.
It's also very funny.

My favorite when I was growing up was 'From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil
E. Frankweiler' by E. L. Konigsburg. (About two children who run away from
home and try to live in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. Brilliant
