Dear Gemmers

members of the public who are passionate about public engagement. Please
use the links below to register and for more information.

.................................................................................................................................................................................................................
M Shed: Curating the People*s Museum
Presented in partnership with the University of the West of England and
M Shed

Venue: M Shed, Princes Wharf, Wapping Rd, Bristol, BS1 4RN
Date: Wednesday the 5th December 09.30 - 12.30

M-Shed is an exciting new city history museum, where the displays and
public programmes are based on stories told by Bristol people.
Universities were a key partner in the development of the museum.

This workshop will explore the challenges and opportunities presented
by museums and universities working together in the city. Framed around
the M-Shed's story, the event will encourage delegates to discuss the
role of public spaces in encouraging engagement and the need to make
effective partnerships to stimulate and respond to change. Delegates
will have the opportunity to take a quick look at some of the museums
exhibits, and meet many of the people involved in making M-Shed.

We will be joined by:

· Tim Corum, Deputy Head, Collections and Learning, Bristol
Museums Galleries and Archives

· Madge Dresser, Associate Professor in History, University of
the West of England

· Nick Merriman, Chair, University Museums Group and director of
Manchester Museum
