Dear Annette
We have a fantastic resource here in Reading called RISC http://www.risc.org.uk/education/
They have many resources on line as well as highly informed staff who can help with ideas.
The other resource that I find useful for stories and facts is the American site Awesome stories
http://www.awesomestories.com<http://www.awesomestories.com/>
they have resources from around the world both historic and contemporary.
Good luck with the project, it sounds fascinating.
best wishes
Julia

Subject: gold rush
Hi GEMs
A Thursday puzzle. I'm working on a Global Dimensions literacy project with a Year 3/4 class on the topic of "Gold!". As part of this we're looking at the concept of a gold rush and the impact that this would have on people, the landscape etc. Does anybody know of any children's books or films that would make good source materials to get the children going? We don't mind whether it's US, South Africa, New Zealand or Canada, in fact for the project a range of stories from different parts of the world would be fantastic. I've never seen anything but I'm betting one of you has...
Vast appreciation in advance, and look forward to hearing from you!
best wishes
annette
