Dear Suchitra,
I have written a paper about a worker's community that existed in
Brazil in the fitties and sixties, which I believe might be of interest
to you, given your interest in the history of design in Latin America.
My paper focused Unilabor, a worker's autogestionary community dedicated
to the production of modern furniture. It was written in Portuguese, but
there are at least two abstracts that have been translated into English.
You might load them from these links:

The whole essay, in Portuguese, was published in 2004:
CLARO, Mauro. Unilabor - desenho industrial, arte moderna e autogestão
operária. São Paulo: Senac, 2004. 190 p. isbn: 85-7359-378-4 / isbn-13:

Kind regards,
Mauro Claro
