Dear gemmers
A few points I want to add really. The answer to poorly paid contracts is to not respond to them.
Secondly as someone has already pointed out the HLF does give an indication of the "worth" of a skilled professional and that is in the region of £350.
Although I specify a daily rate you always end up pricing a job based on an estimate. As you get more experienced you get more accurate but sometimes you win and sometimes you lose.
One last point although occasionally an organisation will offer a shocking amount for a piece of work I generally find that most clients accept my daily rate and expect to pay a reasonable rate for my expertise.
