No don't go to sleep, really, it's interesting, and relevant to museum education. Honest.
I'm working with Cadence who are specialists in strategic commissioning and policy work. We have a brief from Cheshire East Council and Renaissance N-W to research and develop ideas on the future sustainability of two partially-local authority funded museums in Cheshire. Fortunately the museum Trustees are very enthusiastic to make a virtue out of economic necessity. They are keen to visit other museums who have put some innovative thought into how they are going to get through the inevitable reduction in local authority and charitable trust funding thats about to hit us all.
If you are one of these, and don't mind sharing your thoughts and experiences, or even better, are willing to host a visit from a couple of Trustees please get back to me. The areas we're particularly interested in exploring further are: strategic commissioning (particularly with childrens services, adult education, and health); museum/PCT partnerships; sharing of collections cross county/service boundaries and the cost implications of this; museums with a strong connections to the local business community; museums working with local training providers ie on the construction and built environment diploma, a museum/Sure Start partnership, and also a museum that considers that it runs a successful volunteer accreditation programme.
