Dear mailbase denizens,
Does anyone have any knowledge or experience of the possible
interference of the glucocorticoid Budesonide on the Beckman DXi assay?
We have a patient with adrenal abnormalities who is on an inhaler with
this drug twice a day and the clinicians would like to do a
dexamethasone suppression test on her.
Beckman have no data on this, after comparing its structure to that of
other steroid (it is VERY similar in structure to prednisolone which
does interfere) my own personal feeling is that it may well interfere
and they should try getting the patient off her inhaler for a couple of
days to do the test. However, if anyone has any firm knowledge one way
or the other I'd love to hear from you
Regards,
Iain
