I agree with Martin Bazley about the need for an external microphone. It
doesn't need to be expensive though. You can get an inexpensive lapel
microphone on a long lead that will plug directly into the camera (e.g. from
Maplin). I was recently taught to tape this on the end of a two-metres-long
wooden broom handle, then ask an assistant to hold it close to the subject
while you operate the camera. I am told it works better than most camera
mounted microphones.
I am certainly no expert film maker, but even a dabbler like me can achieve
results like this, put together using Microsoft Windows free Movie Maker
