Members and non-members of engage are invited to book now for our new series
of CPD seminars. Making Connections seminars are aimed at early career
gallery, museum, artist and maker educators, with some experience of
galleries or gallery education. Teachers or freelance staff working with
gallery education have also found these seminars useful.
Making Connections provides a forum to:
• Expand core skills and knowledge
• Explore and develop methodology
• Take part in practical workshops
• Discuss and share practice with peers
• Review recent policy developments
• Build regional knowledge, contacts and networks
We are now taking bookings for Making Connections Early Career Professional
Development Seminars in Spring 2009:
* Early Years
February 17th 2009, Tate Modern
How can galleries and artists contribute to the delivery of the Foundation
Phase? Focusing on formal and family learning, this seminar will consider
the creative provision for Early Years in England, drawing on the findings
of the engage Cymru research project.
* Work-Related Learning
March 13th 2009, Tate Liverpool
How are galleries contributing to work-related learning for young people in
formal education? With a focus on new initiatives including Diplomas and
Creative Apprenticeships, this seminar will explore the potential for
galleries to work with partners to deliver vocational learning experiences.
* Working with Disabled and Deaf People
March 30th 2009, The New Art Gallery Walsall **Please note change to date**
How can galleries welcome disabled and deaf people as audiences,
participants and artists? This seminar will focus on the research outcomes
and activities from Explore: disabled and deaf people engaging with
galleries, to enable you to develop inclusive approaches for galleries in
developing strategy, and in project planning and delivery.
Making Connections seminars run from 10.45am–4pm and include lunch. Each
follows a similar format: specialist presentations and discussions in the
morning, lunch and networking, and a hands on workshop in the afternoon.
Each seminar is supported by a printed toolkit which reinforces the session
theme.
To book: Making Connections participants are encouraged to book a complete
series of three seminars and will benefit from a series discount, see the
