Morning all,
Just wondered if I could canvas your opinion on handling collections and how
they are best managed.
At the moment, our handling collection is managed by our Social History
Curator and is catalogued on the MODES database which is also used for the
permanent collection. However, it is the education team that makes the most
use of the handling objects through loans boxes, reminiscence boxes and in
workshops. Up until now this arrangement has worked pretty well, but it has
now been proposed by the current Social History Curator to give the
education team full responsibility for handling collection.
I am weighing up the pros and cons of this new way of working and wondered
if anyone would mind sharing their experiences of managing handling
collections, to help me make a final decision!
Many thanks in advance for your help.
