Hi Lisa
TTS stock a poster of Bruegel's painting of Tudor children playing (some quite disturbing games!) for around £7. Their website is: www.tts-shopping.com tel: 0800318686

Hi, Lisa.
I suspect you're likely to encounter a dearth of sources. Painters in the
Elizabethan period usualy confined themselves to painting the nobility or
members of the church. You might find a few destitute children depicted as
part of a historical or biblical backdrop, but basically, there was no money
in painting the poor. There's one major exception, however - the Dutch genre
painters, especially Pieter Brueghel the Elder and his immediate
descendants. I'm not quite sure why the wealthy Dutch developed a taste for
paintings of peasants, but the Breughel family did very well out of it. Try
the Wikipedia entry as a start -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pieter_Bruegel_the_Elder
It has links to several of his paintings, and further articles on his
progeny.
Best wishes,

Dear Gem
I am working with an illustrator to create a illustrated children's
storybook set in the Elizabethan period. Does anyone know of any online
museum collections that may have drawings/paintings of children from this
period?
Thanks
Best wishes
Lisa
