There is a Project Story re how Hampshire County Museums Service increased their capacity to deliver sessions for schools by creating a team of trained casual staff who can work with schools at their local museums on this page of the Renaissance South East website.

Subject: casual education staff
Hi Gemmers
I'd like to recruit some more casual staff to work with school groups. The staff we have have been here for years, so we haven't dealt with recruitment before. I've toyed with the idea of using supply teachers, but I'm not sure we can afford them or if they are really right for us.
I would be interested to know what other people's experiences of recruiting people to jobs like this are. Are there any pitfalls I should be aware of?
Many thanks
Trudie
