Learning Styles in Gallery Education

What are the most useful frameworks to describe and evaluate how audiences
engage with contemporary art and learning in a gallery context?
This collaborative seminar is an opportunity for you to review several
different frameworks including Inspiring Learning For All, using Generic
Learning Outcomes (GLOs), and the usefulness of their application within
contemporary gallery education.
The seminar will be facilitated by Emily Pringle, who recently undertook a
review of these issues for engage, published as Learning in the Gallery:
Context, Process, Outcomes.
Sarah Saunders, Learning & Programmes Officer, National Museums Scotland,
will present a case study on using GLOs.

Our half-day networking meetings give you a chance to meet others involved
in gallery and arts education in your area.
Don’t worry if you are new to gallery education or an old hand; engage
Scotland events attract a real mix of people from a range of arts
backgrounds. And you don’t have to be an engage Scotland member to attend.
Our first networking meeting in 2008 takes place on
Thursday 6 March 2008 at the Harbour Arts Centre, Irvine
GLOW Update
At this meeting we will also hear from Learning Teaching Scotland about
GLOW, the Scottish Schools Digital Network.
Alongside the Curriculum for Excellence, GLOW is just one of the many
changes taking place in Scottish education. This national schools
intranet, will digitally link Scotland's 800,000 educators and pupils.
Learners in Scottish state-funded education will be provided with a
collection of online digital resources and activities which fit specific
areas of the curriculum, support the principles of Curriculum for
Excellence and exploit the environment and social tools provided by GLOW.
Networking Meetings run from 12.30 – 16.30 with a light lunch available on
arrival.
