"Brecon has a significant Nepali community, due to the presence in the town
of a Gurkha regiment and their families. The Museum is planning to hold an
exhibition about Nepali festivals and will work with the Gurkha community to
create the exhibition. It is planned that the Nation Museums Liverpool will
lend objects, and that a community archive will be created to document the
lives of the Brecon Nepali community in 2007.
A freelance education officer is needed to carry out the outreach work with
the community before the exhibition, and to create and deliver a series of
schools' workshops over a fortnight to complement the exhibition. The
exhibition runs from 13th October to 24th November 2007.
We have a grant for an education officer for 20 days at £200 per day (10
days to be spent doing outreach and 10 days school workshops - a member of
staff will assist as needed).
Please feel free to contact me at the Museum with any questions."
