Dear all,
A plea for help, urgently needed .....
The Learning Team that I manage has just been 'informed' (note - no
consultation took place) that in just one month's time 2 of our 3 existing
education spaces (which are separate from the galleries, so as to afford a
safe, practical, suitably furnished, roomy area in which the majority of
our learning activities take place) are due in just one month's time, to
become part of a re-developed cafe area. We have been offered either the
gallery floor or the use of a space which has not been designed or
furnished with learning in mind (unlike our existing education rooms) and
for the use of which our corporate events team have first option,
therefore making it extremely likely that education groups will
be 'bumped' in the case of a double booking, leaving them no-where else to
go for teaching sessions, to leave their bags, or to have lunch.
Myself and my small team would be extremely grateful to any of you that
can offer us some words of advice, sound supporting arguments regarding
separate learning spaces, ways in which you have responded in similar
circumstances etc.
We are trying to construct a considered response, so any replies may form
part of this.
Many thanks for your help.
