_*SEEC Professional Development Event
*_
_An Update on the Bologna Process_
_Date: _ Friday November 10th 2006, 10:00 – 4:00
_Venue:_ The Resource Centre, 356 Holloway Road, N7
_Speakers_: Stephen Adam, University of Westminster and John Reilly, UK
Socrates-Erasmus Council
_Outline:_ Credit-related discussion with European colleagues relates to
the relationships between Learning Outcomes and notional workload as
perceived in the UK and in other European countries, the way in which
credits are allocated for Lifelong Learning at all levels, and a
possible divergence between vocational and academic education credits in
the Commission compared with the convergence approach in the UK.
The morning session will be facilitated by Stephen Adam and John Reilly,
who will introduce colleagues to the debates and discussions ranged
around issues from the European and National Qualification Frameworks,
and EU proposals, through ENQA – Standards and Guidelines for Quality
Assurance, to the issue of transparency instruments such as EUROPASS.
After lunch, working groups will be convened to consider the questions
raised by the impact of the European initiatives on working academic
practices, including new responsibilities placed on UK institutions by
the Lisbon Convention.
As is customary, the day will close with setting out possible ways
forward, both for institutions represented, and for SEEC in support of
members.
Places for this event are limited – a programme and a booking form are
attached and forms should be returned to the SEEC office as soon as
possible.
Regards
The SEEC Office
