John Whittington warns: This has become seriously 'off-topic'! - but .....
One problem is the woolly use of language, with people variously claiming cure, improvement, effect, significance. Statisticians can help by being hard nosed - though this risks accusations of being pedantic or in denial. However, it is essential to insist on "objective definitions". My suspicion is that a lot of herbal or folk products are being touted as "homeopathic", whereas I understand the term as applying strictly to the massively-diluted water treatments. My personal example is of a family pony that blatantly demonstrated pollen allergy, particularly to rape. We were advised to try some tablets, and within a day of taking the first dose the pony went past a rape field without the usual disturbance. I can accept this worked; I wouldn't class it as homeopathy.
