To quote: "The monthly data published today gives the waiting times for
15 of the most common diagnostic tests carried out in the NHS. This data
will help the NHS in delivering the new 18 week maximum wait from GP to
treatment, including all diagnostic tests, by 2008."
Hard to believe, but they say these are the fifteen commonest diagnostic
tests:
1 Imaging - Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
2 Imaging - Computer Tomography (CT)
3 Imaging - Non-obstetric ultrasound
4 Imaging - DEXA Scan
5 Imaging - Barium Enema
6 Physiological Measurement - Audiology - pure tone audiometry
7 Physiological Measurement - Cardiology - echocardiography (Echos)
8 Physiological Measurement - Cardiology - electrophysiology
9 Physiological Measurement - Neurophysiology - peripheral neurophysiology
10 Physiological Measurement - Respiratory physiology - sleep studies
11 Urodynamics - pressures & flows
12 Endoscopy - Gastroscopy
13 Endoscopy - Colonoscopy
14 Endoscopy - Flexible Sigmoidoscopy
15 Endoscopy - Cystoscopy
