yes, and the parallels will, no doubt grow over time.
the major thing in common here with the middlevils might be this:
"...these people are often desperate, for whatever reason, and they believe
the dead men might help them."
we in the immensely comfortable and secure West have, in the main, lost our
sense of "desperation" --or only very rarely experience it.
things were very, very different en ces temps la, i suspect, with Desperation
and Fear being endemic and Primary Motivators.
of course, Mother Church was ever-present to minister to those.
