The East Midlands Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (EMMLAC) has
secured funding from the European Social Fund to provide a programme of
training and development in business skills for independent museums in the
East Midlands. This will be delivered for EMMLAC by Arts Training Central
(ATC), Leicester. We now wish to recruit a Co-ordinator for the programme,
as below:

Coordinator for the Sustainable Museums Professional Development Programme
0.6 appointment pro-rata £22,000 p.a. (£13,200), temporary until end June
2007,based at ATC Offices in Leicester, with travel across the East
Midlands region.
ATC (Arts Training Central), the regional Development Agency for the arts,
in conjunction with the East Midlands Museums, Libraries and Archives
Council (EMMLAC), wishes to appoint an energetic and well-organised person
to manage the day to day co-ordination of the Sustainable Museums
professional development programme between December 2005 and June 2007.
The post-holder will be responsible for:
• the smooth running of a series of events and activities including
seminars, surgeries and Action Learning Sets, aimed at improving the
business and operational skills of staff and volunteers in independent
museums, by liaising between tutors, venues and participants;
• the management of a mentoring scheme for staff and volunteers in
independent museums, establishing links between mentees and mentors,
helping participants to establish objectives and outcomes, and monitoring
progress;
• helping to prepare reports and statistical information to return
to Government Office East Midlands (GOEM) as principal funders of the
programme.
Applicants should be able to show experience of event co-ordination,
preferably related to professional development activity, and have strong
interpersonal skills. An understanding of the independent museums sector
would be an advantage.
