As part of Renaissance in the Regions, SEMLAC has established a region wide network of Museum Development Services. This support network complements investment in the South East Hub and focuses on the wider museums community. The role of Museum Development Officer is key to the delivery of this support service in Kent & Medway.
The Museum Development Officer provides advice and support to help museums across Kent & Medway improve their services and meet the new Accreditation standard. The postholder also liaises with a wide range of stakeholders to represent and promote the interests of the sub-region’s museums. This influential role represents an excellent opportunity to make a real difference on the ground, and get involved in the diverse range of issues affecting museums.
Successful candidates will have worked in a museum or heritage environment for at least three years, have extensive experience of professional practice, and demonstrate a good knowledge of national policies and issues. In addition, they will have worked with a wide variety of organisations and people, and possess excellent communication skills.
This post is supported by the Renaissance Museum Development Fund. The post-holder will be employed by the South East Museum, Library & Archive Council, and seconded to Kent County Council, with an office base in West Malling. This post is open to secondments. The post is not eligible for relocation.
