RoboFesta-UK 5th Annual Open Meeting
Berrill Lecture Theatre, Open University, Milton Keynes, MK7 6AA
Wednesday 2nd November, 10.00am to 4.00pm
Educators, academic researchers and industry representatives are meeting
at the Open University on Wednesday 2nd November to discuss the
development of RoboFesta-UK, an exciting nationwide initiative to help
children learn about science, engineering, technology and mathematics
through building and experimenting with robots.
The presentations at the open meeting this year will focus on "robotics as
a vocation", and "robotics for children with special educational needs".
Guest speakers will include Noel Sharkey (University of Sheffield and
"Robot Wars"), Geoff Pegman (R U Robots), Simon Steiner (Engineering
Subject Centre), John Baruch (University of Bradford) and Sam Wane
(University of Staffordshire) with more to be confirmed in the next few
days.
The meeting is run on an informal basis, with plenty of opportunities for
networking with members of the UK educational robotics and STEM outreach
communities.
Participants from all sectors are welcome - education (form schools to
HE), museums/science centers, educational retail, SETNET member
organisations.
The RoboFesta-UK annual open meeting is unique in its scope, and in
previous years has provided fertile ground for establishing new robotics
related initiatives on local and national scales.
