Does the list have a view on turning a U and E into a C and E
by offering only Na/K and creatinine?Reflex ordering of urea
would be available when necessary but the C and E would give
the information needed ,most of the time.(Remember when we
thought we couldn't do without bicarbs & chlorides on all
samples?)What is the value in omitting urea? A significant
reduction in analytical time and cost over the year.Other
candidates for the chop? gammaGT on all LFT requests.LFTs on
statin patients where ALT would probably suffice.
