medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Maybe my message veers off the topic, but... I have learned about the non-mixing together of history and anthropology (or, more exactly, of the reluctance of many historians to have anything to do with anthropology) the hard way. It was puzzling to me, as I was trained differently up to that point, and since the time when I was an undergraduate my models have been Jacques Le Goff and Aron Gurevich. In that respect, do you have any recommendations on journals that are interdisciplinary enough to accept a paper that touches simultaneously on history, anthropology and language studies? A paper of mine was rejected by one journal on the grounds that it does not present any new data that historians do not know, but it was recommended that it should sent to an anthropoligical journal. Also, and this is more pertinent probably to the issue of shame-honor, what are good and new critical sources on "medieval" insult? Thank you!

| What do you mean by "anthropological writings on honor-shame..."?
| I'll be interested in any responses you receive to this line of inquiry. My main gripe with medievalists (of which I am a strictly amateur one) is that the historians, art historians and medieval religionists seem not to talk to one another or to other disciplines. Anthropology and (horrors!) psychology, with few exceptions, are NOT DEEMED RELEVANT and woe to anyone who suggests otherwise. I do hope I am proven exceedingly wrong in this mindset and will gladly take my lumps if I am.
