Couldn't believe this from Edexcel - dont think they have any comprehension
at all how things run in large FE colleges ! We too are facing an
horrendous day tomorrow - who timetabled general studies units to clash
with other subjects ?! We have 520 students doing GS in the morning -
clashing with Law, Geog. ICT etc etc - so many students bringing lunch in
with them - not sure where we are going to house them for this
supervision. We are battling at present with special requirements which
pop up at the last minute - I cant predict a broken finger unfortunately -
and we are working internally to recognise as quickly as possible those
requirements which are known on enrolment. However, with the best will in
the world, we cannot capture all these and, as you say, we cannot know
which units a student will be sitting in time to meet this deadline when
entries have not even been gathered internally. We will be asking for
special arrangements for all units to cover this unknown element.
So know exactly how you feel.
