In South Glasgow hospitals it is a very similar situation to other labs
which use "ghost" authorisation on Telepath.
0900 to 1700 weekdays and 0900 to 1230 weekends clinically validate "in
series" with reporting biochemist commenting on selected results which have
failed auto-validation criteria
Rest of time (out-of hours) "in parallel" with technically validated results
available electronically to wards and GPs with a "ghost" copy reviewed by
reporting biochemist the following morning.
At all times results outwith grossly abnormal limits are phoned.
