As for nuns' belts, are you wondering about medieval
practices or today's? All the nuns who taught me wore
leather belts. And today's nuns, if they wear habits
at all, wear belts. The sort of belt depends entirely
on the order. The cincture in general is a symbol of
obedience, I think.
