Apologies for cross postings.
I am pleased to announce that The National Library of Scotland
Inter-Library Services is now offering an electronic document delivery
(EDD) service to libraries.
Using Ariel** software we will digitally copy the document you have
requested and then immediately transmit it to you, either as an E-mail
attachment or to an IP address, for printing out on a Windows-compatible
printer.
The e-mail option is available to libraries with a system that can read
MIME (Multipurose Internet Mail Extensions) compliant e-mails and handle
standard multipage TIFF files. Ariel software is not essential.
For delivery to an IP address the recipient *must have the Ariel
software installed*.
The use of a laser printer is recommended but other types may work
reasonably well, particularly for text only documents.
Your PC requires Windows 95 or higher and imaging software such as
Imaging for Windows, which is usually part of the standard Windows
software.
If we can deliver your photocopy by EDD then, because it produces
various savings for us, we will accept requests for *photocopies* from
ED/N-1 stock *without their having to be processed via the Backup
system* as well as ones from ED/N-2 holdings.
We will also accept requests via Ariel from libraries which can/wish to
send them to us in that way. The address to use is [log in to unmask] .
If you would be interested in registering (no charge!) for our EDD
service, please contact me on my personal e-mail address as below.
More information about the service is available on our website at
