Internet Grateful Med (IGM) will be retired in phases
in the coming months. The NLM Technical Bulletin article
"Internet Grateful Med to Be Retired; Reminder of NLM Gateway
Availability"
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/pubs/techbull/jf01/jf01_igm_phaseout.html )
provides the IGM phaseout plan in detail. Some key dates from
the article are:
early February 2001:
The SDILINE search screen will be removed from IGM
(completed February 12, 2001).
April 2, 2001:
Searchers of the following databases on Internet Grateful Med
will be redirected to other web interfaces for searching:
MEDLINE
AIDSDRUGS
AIDSTRIALS
ChemID
DIRLINE
HealthSTAR
OLDMEDLINE
TOXLINE
Please note that AIDSLINE will continue to be available through Internet
Grateful Med.
Also on April 2nd, the "Search MEDLINE: PubMed and Internet Grateful Med"
web page ( <http://www.nlm.nih.gov/databases/freemedl.html>
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/databases/freemedl.html ) will be
replaced with a web page sending users directly to PubMed. The
Search MEDLINE page receives a great number of hits, and provides
access to MEDLINEplus as well as MEDLINE. The redirect web page
will be in place for approximately six months. After that time,
the MEDLINE link on the NLM home page will go directly to PubMed.

Dear Sue,
Greetings from Al-Ain the oasis city of the Middle east. I find Internet
grateful Med to be very user friendly and appropriate interface for EBM
audience. This has pull down menus and many filters that could be used to
get what one wants. The feed back I get from my audience is that they like
this search facility and it is very useful.
Unfortunately NLM is decommissioning this facility. Please see
http://igm.nlm.nih.gov
Can any one close to the NLM establishment kindly let us know that this
facility will still be available through the new NLM gateway.(It will be a
pity if it is not)
Cheers,
Badri
