SPECIALIST REGISTRARS IN PUBLIC HEALTH MEDICINE WITH HONORARY
CLINICAL LECTURER STATUS (2 POSTS)
The University Department seeks medical graduates committed to
public health research and teaching for appointment to two
Specialist Registrar posts based in the academic department of
public health. The appointees will:
. Help administer and deliver undergraduate teaching in Public
Health Sciences or postgraduate teaching on the MSc in Health
Sciences.
. Contribute to the Department's research activity in one of its
established programmes.
. Participate in the Northern & Yorkshire regional training scheme
in public health medicine.
The Department's main programmes of research are in epidemiology
(particularly stroke, coronary heart disease and environmental
epidemiology) and health promotion (focusing primarily on approaches
to the development and evaluation of interventions to reduce
cardiovascular disease).
Successful candidates will have Part I MFPHM and be working towards
Part II and CCST in public health. GMC registration (or evidence of
being GMC registerable for overseas candidates) and two years of
prior clinical experience are essential. Appointed candidates will
be given an NTN allocation and Honorary Clinical Lecturer status as
appropriate.
Both appointments will be for a fixed period reflecting CCST dates.
The Postgraduate Dean confirms that this programme has the required
Educational and Dean's approval and will be part of the Public
Health Training Scheme.
