Hello everyone
It's me! I guess 35 days is a very long time for me not to have your attention.
I am at the very moment writing my preliminary exams, and I ensure you
that my questions today are not the same as the prelim questions that I received.
You don't have to worry about my plagiarising your responses.
It occured to me two mintues ago that if I pass the prelims and I will
become formally a phd candidate. But I don't know what this identity entails.
The questions on my mind are:
1. What does a phd candidate mean? My dictionary says that a candidate is someone
considered to be suitable for a position. Could you give me more specific philosophical
or technical details?
2. How is a phd candidate different from a phd student and a phd? (once again,
philosophically or technically.)
3. What responsibilities does a phd candidate have toward her studies and her field?
For example, does she still have the license to ask 'stupid' questions?
4. Is the idea of phd candidacy really necessary for the field of design inquiry? Why and why not?
Thank you very much in advance. Look forward to your comments.
