Hi
The quote from Heidegger is in deed an important statement
opening up for a lot a questions concerning the status of
design, especially in relation to technology and other
traditions. Technology reveals truth, according to
Heidegger. Design creates reality. But, when we design we
don't only create reality, at the same time reality is
revealed to us. When we add something new into the world, we
suddenly see aspects of reality we've never seen before. So,
design is not only a way to change the world, it is also a
form of inquiry into reality. This has relevance not only
for the practice of design but for design as a special way
to produce knowledge, and maybe a different kind of knowledge.
Just som thoughts.
