WANTED: TWO CONFIDENT COMMUNICATORS
The National Space Centre is recruiting 2 full time presenters to assist in
delivering high quality programmes to schools and the public.
The successful applicants will spend approximately 40% of their time
presenting educational programmes in the Space Centre's state-of-the-art
Space Theatre, and 40% of their time working as a Flight Director in our
Challenger Learning Centre. Additional duties may include operating a
portable planetarium, presenting outreach programmes, developing new
programmes, staffing our Space Now newsdesk and working as a floor manager
in the day-to-day operation of the Space Centre.
Essential:
* A confident, outgoing individual with a proven interest in astronomy
and space science
* A team player with enthusiasm for communicating science
* Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively to
many different audiences in a variety of settings
* Desire to learn and develop new skills
* An interest in contributing to the continuing development of the
National Space Centre Programmes Team
* Commitment to excellent standards of customer care
Desirable:
* Experience presenting education programmes in an informal or formal
learning environment
* Experience working 'front of house' in a science centre/ museum
* Knowledge of planetarium operations and programmes
* Knowledge of Challenger Learning Centre operations and missions
* Knowledge of Starlab(tm) operations and programmes
Salary will be between £12,000 and £14,000 depending upon experience.
