Just a reminder re next weeks sciBAr - the details follow:
Embryo research: A step in the right direction?
The House of Lords recently followed the Commons in voting for the extension
of research on human embryos in order to develop new medical treatments. But
is 'therapeutic cloning' right? Will it lead to cloned babies? Is it even
necessary?
Juliet Tizzard, Director of the Progress Educational Trust (a charity that
aims to build public confidence in reproductive and genetic technologies)
and editor-in-chief of BioNews, will lead an informal discussion on embryo
research over a pint of beer, glass of wine or cappuccino at the sciBAr
organised by the BA. The sciBAr is open to anyone, there are no invitations
and the evening is free except for what you spend on drink or food. Air
your views or just listen to
others, it's your regular pub debate just on a larger scale.
